What types of medical waste can be treated by Ecosteryl machines?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Ecosteryl solutions are designed to treat\u00a0<b>solid and liquid infectious healthcare waste<\/b>\u00a0generated by healthcare activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>Our Ecosteryl machines can process, among others:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>syringes (without medication),<\/li>\n<li>needles and sharp objects,<\/li>\n<li>tubing,<\/li>\n<li>gauze, dressings, and medical textiles,<\/li>\n<li><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">blood bags and other biological fluid containers,<\/span><\/li>\n<li>anatomical waste,<\/li>\n<li>veterinary waste,<\/li>\n<li>plastic containers (sharps boxes, IBCs, ect.) and cardboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"><strong>The following waste cannot be treated:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>medicines and pharmaceutical products,<\/li>\n<li>cytotoxic and cytostatic products,<\/li>\n<li>chemical products,<\/li>\n<li>radioactive waste,<\/li>\n<li>pressurized gases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\n<p>The machines comply with European classifications for infectious healthcare waste.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">2. How does Ecosteryl technology work?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div><strong>The process consists of three continuous stages:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>shredding the waste using a four-shaft industrial shredder;<\/li>\n<li>preheating the waste with microwaves in a maximum of 3 minutes;<\/li>\n<li>maintaining the waste at a controlled temperature (approximately 100\u00b0C) for 1 hour to ensure a\u00a0<b>6 Log\u2081\u2080 disinfection level<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>At the end of the process, the waste is:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>completely disinfected;<\/li>\n<li>unrecognizable;<\/li>\n<li>inert;<\/li>\n<li>ready for recovery or disposal in accordance with local regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>4. What is the advantage of the four-shaft shredder used by Ecosteryl?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Ecosteryl uses four-shaft industrial shredders recognized as among the highest-performing on the market.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>This technology offers several advantages:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>very high shredding power;<\/li>\n<li>excellent particle size uniformity, further improved by a screen located beneath the shredder;<\/li>\n<li data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">waste rendered completely unrecognizable;<\/li>\n<li>very low risk of clogging;<\/li>\n<li>exceptional robustness;<\/li>\n<li>simplified maintenance without complete machine disassembly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">\n<p>Some shredders installed in 2000 are still operating today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><b>5. What happens to the waste after disinfection?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>After disinfection, the waste no longer presents an infectious risk.<\/div>\n<div><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Depending on local regulations and the customer&#8217;s objectives, the treated waste may:<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">be sent to an energy recovery facility (RDF or Waste-to-Energy);<\/li>\n<li>be sorted using our R-STERYL sorting center to recover different fractions for recycling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>6. What level of disinfection does Ecosteryl guarantee?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Our machines guarantee a minimum\u00a0<b>6 Log\u2081\u2080 microbiological reduction<\/b>, corresponding to a one-million-fold reduction in the number of microorganisms present. This performance is validated during commissioning through biological testing using\u00a0<i>Bacillus atrophaeus<\/i>, in accordance with applicable standards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><b>7. How many operators are required?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Only one operator is needed to run two Ecosteryl machines. Operations are highly automated, and the ease of operation significantly reduces labor costs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><b>8. What is the lifespan of an Ecosteryl machine?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>The estimated lifespan is at least 15 years, provided the preventive maintenance program is properly followed. Can the waste be recycled after treatment?<\/b><\/h2>\n<div>Yes.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Once disinfected, the waste can be directed to various recovery streams. Combined with the R-STERYL sorting center, the solution makes it possible to recover different polymers (PP, PE, PET, PVC, ABS, PS, etc.) for recycling.
